Orchard Heights Winery is located in the picturesque foothills of the Coast Range Mountains in Western Oregon. The winery is named Orchard Heights since it sits atop a mountain surrounded by various orchards of apples, cherries, pears, and other delicious fruits. It's an idyllic 15 acre park-like estate, with productive Gewurztraminer vineyards established in the 1970's. In addition to a fully operational winery and bottling facility, Orchard Heights has an intimate Tasting Room, a unique Gift Shop, a fabulous café featuring a Daily Luncheon Service, and a location perfect for family parties, celebrations, meetings and special events! Orchard Heights is also home to the 2010 and 2011 Mid-Valley's Best Brunch!
Wine, Chocolates and a Taste of Hawaii! The flavors of chocolate and wine separately are wonderful but when you put them together, you have something really special. No one has a greater appreciation for the two combined than the owners of Orchard Heights Winery, Michael and Gwen Purdy, who grew up in nearby Valsetz, Oregon.
The Purdy's purchased Orchard Heights Winery in 1996 with the goal of expanding the vineyards and bottling facilities. They are pleased to present their award winning wines - Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Late Harvest varieties. There’s also a fun selection of specialty wines - Pineapple, Passion Fruit, Mango, and Tropical Blend, all made with a dry white wine to tone down the tropical fruit juice sweetness.
Michael and Gwen also have a macadamia nut orchard and chocolate factory in Hawaii, under the Island Princess brand name, specializing in gourmet chocolates and confections using Macadamia Nuts and Kona coffee beans. See the connection?
The chocolates and confections they bring over to the winery would make anyone’s wish list. Their most popular treat is called Mele Macs (Hawaiian for Merry Macadamias). This creation made with Macadamia Nuts covered in buttery, crunchy toffee, then smothered in rich chocolate and then finally, dusted in powdered sugar. Mele Macs has taken Hawaii and many parts of the world by storm!
The intimate tasting room and wine bar is open Friday and Saturday from 11:00 – 4:00, 9:00 – 4:00 on Sunday, and is the perfect setting to sample the wonderful wines and chocolate. Or, stay for lunch and have a bite to eat in the beautiful Garden Room. Please don’t forget the grounds, which provides an idyllic environment for a relaxed picnic, a stroll or even a game of horseshoes.
Recently named the #1 Brunch and Family Restaurant in Mid-Willamette Valley 3 years in a row, theSunday Brunch, has a make-to-order omelet and pasta bar along with Eggs Benedict, a waffle bar and many more goodies. Presented in the Wine Room every Sunday starting at 9 with the last seating at 1, we recommend you make reservations early.
“We’ve been told we have the friendliest staff and best gift selection around so please, stop by and visit with us,” Gwen said. “Come by and get a flavor of Oregon Wines and of the Hawaiian islands. It might just put a little sunshine into your day.”
